February 2018: A replay of last year’s WRTA fiscal crisis is now in progress for the next fiscal year, fiscal 2019, that begins July 1, 2018. Due to the current levels of state-wide funding of all transportation authorities, and rising local expenses, the WRTA faces a $1.1 million deficit.

January 2018: TFT’s goal in 2017 was to double the number of single-day bus passes that it dispensed in 2016. As noted above, TFT met that goal. At the December 2017 meeting of the Tasks for Transit board of directors, we voted to challenge ourselves to meet an even more ambitious goal for 2018, to more than triple the 1690 single-day bus passes we dispensed in 2017.

December 2017: We have met our fundraising goal for this year, thanks to many generous individual and business donors! All we need to do is to double that amount next year!!

November 2017: Up until now, when an organization joins the ranks of TFT’s partner charities, that organization is told to expect to receive ten WRTA single-day bus passes from TFT each month going forward. This has been our practice and we have been able to do this so far, even this year as we grew from 9 partner charities to 21.
